I Sound Like A Douchebag

I spent some time this afternoon chatting with Joe Aiello and Phil Zuber about this past offseason and the upcoming summer, so if you'd like to put a gruff sexy voice to my gruff sexy name, head on over to the Big League Baseball Report for the ~25 minute audio. Leave time for a cold shower afterwards.

I don't think I've ever expended as much energy talking about the upcoming season as I have this winter. And while it's great to be so thorough, at some point you have to sit back and realize that April can't get here a moment too soon. 25 more days.

Nice job Jeff
I thought you sounded great.  The problem with the interview was that the hosts came in insufficiently prepared (as they admitted).  You were stuck responding to generic questions; had they done their homework there could have been some interesting give and take, but as it was you were forced to do all the substantive talking.  The juvenile Putz question was the last straw.

It's a good time to add...I'm an A's fan living in Oakland but I visit your site every day because I really enjoy your analysis and writing style.  LL is also a terrific community as most recently proven by the beer thread last week.  I hope you get a competitive, exciting team to write about this season.

Well, to be fair
these guys are doing podcast previews for every team in the league. That's a mighty tall task, and it's hard to sound like an expert on all of them. Particularly when it comes to the Mariners, who've barely been on the fringes of relevance these last few years.

Besides, sometimes it's nice to answer generic questions. It's really really easy to focus too much on little details and lose sight of the big picture.

I wonder how much they follow baseball in general.
I mean come on, only able to name 3 players off your head? Jeez. The Pirates are even lower on the relevance totem pole than we are, and I can name at least 10 guys off their 25 man roster off the top of my head.
Losers always whine about their best. Winners go home and fuck the prom queen.

I kind of agree with Goose
"Kenshi Ohama"?  Who the hell is that?

I ♥ Jeff.  We should all chip in to get you some signed baseball cards of, um... err... well... uh, I have a JJ Putz signed Rainers card, you want that?  :)

With the way Jeff's card collection works
I say we get him signed Mateo, Bloomquist, and Vidro cards.

Did you not mention Beltre at all?
Man, he must feel left out these days...

You did a good job
Nice work Jeff, I enjoyed listen to it.

This and the THT preview, you are all over the place!

If we're not careful
the M's are going to trade Jeff for an average middle reliever, and one C-grade pitching prospect to "bolster the bullpen".
That's a right kerfuffle!

Thats what she said
How in the name of Zeus's butthole did you get out of your cell?

That part about Putz
Being emotionally hardened because of his name killed me.
Hard work never killed nobody, but I won't take my chances.

nice work Jeff
One of the interesting parts of the interview was seeing the Mariners through a general baseball (ie non-Mariner) fan's eyes.

And ditto on the off-season.  Let's get some real baseball going, so I can pay attention to something important and stop wasting all this time on "life".

Stupid movie quotes
Why is it that every sports talk show out there has to have ridiculously stupid sound effects and/or movie quotes to open their show?
That's a right kerfuffle!

Dude.
I fully expected to hear "Shall we play a game?" You sound like WOPR!!!

Maybe that's it.  Jeff is a secret military computer.  That explains it.  Actually, that explains a lot.  No WONDER you get chemistry...

//I've met Jeff, and can verify his human-ness

Heh.  Kenji "Yohama".  Nice.

Iceberg, right ahead!

That head though....
is anything but human. I'd accuse Jeff of getting a big head over all this attention he's getting, but I think genetics are the likely culprit.

I kid! I kid!

I was surprised
when you said you cried after the Doyle trade.

Good stuff.  BTW I probably have you beat in the internet douchebag category.

How many of us -didn't- cry after that trade?
I was in tears most of the day, myself.

by Graham on Mar 10, 2007 8:59 AM PST up reply actions   0 recs

I didn't.
I was already too numb from crying after Ogasawara signed with the Giants.

See, all of you guys are stuck with a Mariners Snelling jersey that's possibly relatively worthless now aside from the cult membership, and I'm saddled with a Nippon Ham Fighters Ogasawara jersey that's not only possibly worthless but signifies that my former favorite player went to the Japanese equivalent of the Yankees.  BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Hmmm
I don't see Snelling jerseys are worthless at all. I still love mine to bits.

I was shocked and disappointed myself
but after Guillen for Ramontiago, nothing Bavasi can do can hurt me that bad.
