More fun with the PC police
Do not name your pig 'porkchop'.
In other news, as a non-christian, I find the mascot of our hated rival, San Diego, to be very offensive. I demand that they change their name to 'San Diego Religious Leaders'.
Or, people could just grow a pair and stop being a bunch of sensitive pussies about everything. Have some common sense.

C'mon
Washington Redskins? I can see where that's offensive. Chief Wahoo? That's probably crossing the line, too.
But this is insane.
Its like the whole thing in Australia (did I hear it on here somewhere?) where they wanted their Santa Clauses to say 'ha, ha, ha' instead of 'ho, ho, ho' because it could be offensive to women. There comes a point where common sense has to take over.

Why do we give a damn if people get offended?

Excellent question
Because we're dumb. And we should stop.

Um
You'd think, if a name were derogatory, that it would be familiar to everyone.
Also, how would these PCers know the name was derogatory? Maybe, perhaps, because they use it themselves behind everyone else's backs? I betcha.

hmmm... porkchop, huh
I like the analogy that he uses about the difference between calling a rabbi a bagel, and calling a piece of dough with a hole in it a bagel... why cant you call a pig porkchop?

Ok, I'm posting late here
From a story on Fox Newsa,
General Manager Kurt Landes said he heard from several Hispanics who said PorkChop was derogatory.
"We were really unaware of any negative connotations with the word 'pork chop,"' he said. "If it offended a few, it's a few too many."
Guillermo Lopez, vice president of the Latino Leadership Alliance, said he was called "pork chop" when he worked at Bethlehem Steel decades ago.
"If my parents were alive, they'd be having fits," said Lopez, among those who complained to the team. "It meant much more to them than it does to Puerto Ricans now in the Lehigh Valley."
So, basically, pissing off your potential customers / fanbase means "people could just grow a pair and stop being a bunch of sensitive pussies about everything".

Oh yeah,
"PorkChop had been submitted by 32 fans. The replacement name, Ferrous -- from the Latin word "ferrum," or iron -- received the most fan nominations, with 235."

Again, couldn't care less what they name their pig
Back when I was at the U of O, there were a bunch of women who were protesting demanding that from now on we spell women as 'womyn', because 'women' connotated that women were dependent upon men.
Some people go out of their way to try and be offended. We, as a society, should stop being a bunch of little pussies.

I saw that story before seeing it here
I wonder if those people complaining just get pissed off in grocery store meat departments when they see pork chops being called pork chops.
