BTW, anyone know the draft order tiebreakers?
Ms tied up with the Tigers and Mets for 10th best record in MLB so collectively, the three teams will pick 19th-21st, but I don't know in which order.

by Matthew on Oct 5, 2007 3:00 PM PDT reply actions

It doesn't matter if we pick before the Tigers
If we do, we'll just pass on a better player who will immediately be drafted by Detroit and develop into an unbelieveable player, while ours will become an injury-prone middle-reliever until the A's convert him to a closer and trade him back to us for a future MVP.

I would consider Frank TV...
The worst ad campaign on TV currently, if Chevy didn't have two other, much worse, ones.  Seriously, when can we bundle up everyone in marketing (and all the other riff-raff) into a ship and launch them into space, a la Douglas Adams?

To the lawyers!
I just realized Chevy is pretty much encouraging kids to drink in that commercial.  Think about it, the whole setup is an adult telling kids that not only is ethanol "vegetarian" but it's a great thing for "vegetarians" to consume...maybe we can sue.

I guess they could be, but this is the time of year aphids start flying.  As far as I knew ants tend to have small, discrete, flights for breeding purposes.  One female will be allowed to sexually mature by a queen and will be sent out to be pursued by perhaps dozens of males.  Not massive flights, and certainly not timed to weather.

If you consider the contract...
Then the market dries up considerably.  I'm not saying, as a GM, I wouldn't do everything short of murder (or at least being caught in murder) to shift enough payroll to afford him...but teams with fixed budgets would find it very hard to afford him at his current price, and even if they did grab him would just hope to do something good with the draft pick when he signed his next monster contract.

manny ramirez rules
And that catch is just one more example of why :^)  Seriously, how can you not love the guy and his attitude

Closer in the eighth?
It's a tie game, nobody on. It's not the most critical point of the game. Why bring in the closer?

by JOlderdude on Oct 5, 2007 9:03 PM PDT reply actions

Nice time for 2 of the most sure gloves
on the Red Sox to make a poor throw and miss a pick.

by JLC on Oct 5, 2007 9:04 PM PDT reply actions

Holy shit Kendrick is fast.
Please don't let him steal home.

Not good news for Angels fans if it hurts his production the rest of the series

by JLC on Oct 5, 2007 9:22 PM PDT reply actions

please Pan, if you're up there
please let K-Rod come in and blow it.

by Matthew on Oct 5, 2007 9:38 PM PDT reply actions

Don't worry,
I'm praying to Vidar as well.  Although the god of silence and revenge may not be as appropriate as Pan, he happens to be my second choice (behind the flying spaghetti monster, of course).

by Gromky on Oct 5, 2007 9:40 PM PDT up reply actions

Hmmm.
Pan's up there alright...

Of the Yankees/Angels/Sox trio, I root for the Sox every time.

by Corco on Oct 5, 2007 9:46 PM PDT reply actions

Manny being Manny.
Hey K-Rod, throwing a fastball on the inside half to Manny isn't a real good idea.

by JOlderdude on Oct 5, 2007 9:48 PM PDT reply actions

According to Soscia,
the bugs in Cleveland were responsible for the Angel loss tonight.

The whole "canadian soldier" thing
Since my last post I did a little digging, and apparently that's a common name for mayflies.  Certainly not ants, as the morons were claiming earlier.

Mayflies I can believe, and it explains the erratic clustering away from trees (where you normally see massive aphid swarms).

by Gromky on Oct 5, 2007 9:56 PM PDT up reply actions

Strange...
"Frank" can sap the joy out of two games going my way in under 20 seconds.

by Gromky on Oct 5, 2007 9:53 PM PDT reply actions

HitTracker
is listing Manny's homer as 447 feet. Niiicceee.
