Because the game went so long, and also because it's Saturday and I like to actually go out and do things, I'm runing out the door and don't have time to write anything. If you're really missing the daily recap, feel free to go back and read any of the previous ten wrap-ups I've posted after these games against Oakland, since they've all pretty much been carbon copies of each other.
Gil Meche and Cupcakes tomorrow at 1:05pm PDT. You could make the argument that winning the final games of this series would be enough to avoid that final nail in the 2006 season's coffin, so I guess that's as good a reason to watch as any. At least as far as the first three innings are concerned. After that, the Mariners'll probably be down by five, and you're on your own.

Gil Meche
Too bad he's facing the Stay Puff Marshmallow Mariner Killer.
This team is so frustrating
On the Schadenfreude front, there's currently a clip of a Fahey diving catch against A-Rod on the frontpage of MLB.com.
Cupcakes!!
Anyways Meche has won is only start against the A's (the only game we've beaten them in)...so I guess their is always a light at the end of the tunnel.
Another plus: If we win we can start calling Meche the A's stopper.
Chances of all this happening are probably around 3%.
Just read that the As beat the Yankees 16 straight
Whoopee galore!
Wrap Pineiro in an Ichiroll and feed him to marshmallow Blanton before tomorrow's game. Maybe Joel can make him as sick as he made all of us tonight.
Apparently even though it never showed up in
In our hearts and minds
Cupcakes!
Tomorrow, once again
Also
DFA him NOW.
I don't usually leave games, even lost causes, but I left after 5 today. Yeah, I wanted to read more of Fantasyland for the Book Club meeting after the game today, but honestly, today's performance was just another miserable loss that cements the M's reputation this year as Oakland's Bitch. Staypuff #5 A's Starter tomorrow for the sweep.
The Book Club meeting was a lot better. Sportszilla, jtopps and Conor Glassey showed up along with Deanna and it was fun times. We're meeting again Sept 9th before the Texas game and the book's The Ticket Out, about Crenshaw HS, the rundown inner city school that produced Darryl Strawberry.

You're probably right
You are correct, sir

Deanna took a great pic of Duchscherer and Street
Dunno about that
nah
My new camera's cool, but I'm right now really just working on learning how to use it. Fortunately, the A's are a really fun team to photograph. I figure I'll probly just do a photo dump of the whole weekend to AN at some point.
So, predictions for the Blantowning tommorow?
Duchserkjgiusahrdogihsirherhiosdufger gets the final out in the 9th, Street gets 2 outs, Beltre doubles, the Ibanez flies out to complete the broom job.
I'll see your 7.2 strong innings
Blanton
Broussard goes yard since he still thinks he's in Cleveland. Ichiro will get gunned down trying to score from 3rd base. Willie will be caught in a rundown between 1st & 2nd base.
Meche will see 5.2IP, 8 hits, 5 k, 4 BB, 1 run but will have naturally thrown too many pitches. With Woods used up we'll be stuck with Mateo who gives up 4 runs in 1.2 innings of relief.
HMMM..lets see
I'll say 7 innings 6 hits 1 walk 1 run (some sort of Raul single that drops in, with sexson grounding out the next AB)
Meche will go 6 innings 2 runs 3 walks and 4 K's, and like ThundaPC said he will have thrown about 80 pitches after the 4th (and after every ball Gil throws he will give that little look over to 1st...like how am I so dumb to throw a ball)
Mateo will blow any shot we might have of winning and JJ will pitch a meaningless 9th inning.
Boy are we a sorry sack.
Blanton 4.2 IP, 2 BB, 0 K, 8 H, 6 ER, 8 R, 2 HR.
Meche 8 IP, 2 BB, 10 K, 7 H, 1 ER, 1 HR.
