Around SBN: Jerry Sandusky's Wife Tries To Run A Reporter Over

Minor League Wrap-Up: 9/7/05

Tacoma lost a strange game to Sacramento, 7-3. Ugly, ugly, ugly. Everything about this game was wretched, starting with the offense that got off to a quick start and then completely took the rest of the night off. After the first, Rainiers only had three baserunners the rest of the evening. Then came the pitching woes later in the game once Damian Moss came out. Jeff Heaverlo was in early-season form and Sean Green pitched like an inexperience rookie baller. Ejections (Bohn, balls and strikes), passed balls, errors (Leone, throw)...oh my. I'd go over the numbers, but it's too depressing. Just look at the...

Notables:

Damian Moss: 5.2 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 5 K.
Jeff Heaverlo: 0.2 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 0 K.
Sean Green: 0.2 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 2 BB.
Mike Bumstead: 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 4 K.
Shin-soo Choo: 0-4.
Justin Leone: 1-4.
Abraham Nunez: 2-4, 1 2B.
Hunter Brown: 2-4.
Little Garciaparra: 0-1. (Called up due to Santiago going to M's)
Asdrubal Cabrera: 0-3.

Midland handed Bazardo his ass, 6-3. Whenever you leave a game posting an ERA of --, you didn't do your job. Enter Yorman Bazardo. Bazardo had one of those laughably bad games. You know, one of those performances where after about twenty minutes you throw your hands up in the air, chuckle and then pretend like it doesn't faze you. But it does, you want to strangle the pitcher. Bazardo's night:

Mark Kiger singles on a line drive to right fielder Jon Nelson.
Daric Barton singles on a ground ball to center fielder Gary Harris. Mark Kiger to 3rd.
Brian Stavisky walks. Daric Barton to 2nd.
Casey Myers singles on a ground ball to left fielder Jaime Bubela. Mark Kiger scores. Daric Barton to 3rd. Brian Stavisky to 2nd.
Danny Putnam singles on a line drive to center fielder Gary Harris. Daric Barton scores. Brian Stavisky to 3rd. Casey Myers to 2nd.
Jeremy Brown walks. Brian Stavisky scores. Casey Myers to 3rd. Danny Putnam to 2nd.
Kevin Melillo walks. Casey Myers scores. Danny Putnam to 3rd. Jeremy Brown to 2nd.
Francis Gomez hit by pitch. Danny Putnam scores. Jeremy Brown to 3rd. Kevin Melillo to 2nd.
Pitcher Change: Chris Key replaces Yorman Bazardo.

Way to go, Yorman...in a playoff game, no less!

Believe it or not, the Missions actually tried to make a game out of this by scoring three in the top of the fourth, but that's as close as they would come as the Midland bullpen COMPLETELY shut them down.

Notables:

Yorman Bazardo: 0.0 IP, 4 H, 5 ER, 3 BB, 0 K.
Chris Key: 3.0 IP, 2 H, 0 ER,  0 BB, 2 K.
Jamie Bubela: 1-5, 1 2B.
Adam Jones: 0-4.
Nate Espy: 1-4, 1 RBI.
Gary Harris: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI.
Jesus Guzman: 1-4, 1 RBI.
Luis Oliveros: 1-4, 1 RBI.

Beloit one-hit Wisconsin, 5-0. Not exactly what I pictured when I saw Wisconsin match up with Beloit in the first round. Nonetheless, this was another trademark performance from Kyle Aselton, a guy who's been damn near unstoppable all season either coming out of the pen, or less often, starting. Aselton struck out ten T-Rats and didn't give up his first hit until a Matt Tuiasosopo double in the eighth. Mark Lowe wasn't nearly as effective as he got KO'd in the fourth after giving up three runs on five hits and walking six. Shawn Nottingham got some time in and was perfect, something that hasn't been his trend in Wisconsin this season, so it's good to see.

Notables:

Mark Lowe: 3.2 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 6 BB, 0 K.
Shawn Nottingham: 2.1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K.
Brent Johnson: 0-3, 1 BB.
Matt Tuiasosopo: 1-3, 1 2B, 1 BB.
Brandon Green: 0-3, 1 BB.

Everett lost in their finale, 3-1. System anti-sweep! System anti-sweep! I feel bad from Roman Martinez as he had a pretty good game and gets nothing to show for it. Martinez went six strong innings giving up a run on two hits while walking three and fanning six. Despite this, the Aquasox could never really get the engine started of offense (see the theme throughout the system?) and after an early run, nothing else came to fruition.

Notables:

Roman Martinez: 6.0 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 6 K.
Robert Hudson: 1-4.
Reed Eastley: 3-4, 1 2B.
J.B. Tucker: 1-4, 1 RBI.
Jeff Flaig: 1-4.
Casey Craig: 1-3.

On the docket:

Tacoma: GAME TWO Bobby Livingston vs. Sacramento. Game time is 7:05pm PDT. Sacramento leads the series, 1-0.
San Antonio: GAME THREE Thomas Oldham vs. Midland. Game time is 5:05pm PDT. Series is tied, 1-1.
Wisconsin: GAME TWO Aaron Jensen vs. Beloit. Game time is 4:35pm PDT. Beloit leads series, 1-0.
Everett: End of season.

DAMN
What a bad, bad day for the Mariners organization.  Suckage from top to bottom.

No kidding!!
Easily one of the darker days in our organizations history. What a nightmare.

Uh oh...
Looks like a 2-0 deficit coming up for the T-Rats. LL's favorite (since Casey Abrahams) left Aaron Jensen gets the start. Yee-haw. I am excited to see Livingston pitch tonight in Tacoma though. Haven't got the pleasure yet.

It's a three-game series...
So if the T-Rats lose this one, they're out.

I have some faith because Jensen shut them out over seven innings a few days ago, holding them to three hits an a couple of walks.
