I'm going to spend the next couple seconds thinking of the most obscure baseball-related hierarchy position I can think of...

Assistant Liaison to the Scouting Director's Training Staff for Conditioning and Workout Coordination.

Totally ad-libbed there. I'm not sure it even makes any sense. Granted, assistant to the director of player development isn't overly obscure, but it's not something I can always name at the drop of a hat, not even with the Mariners.

Of course, since this is in the context of MLB, I'm sure "assistant to" implies some kind of consulting position, but doesn't "assistant to" usually imply a gofer or secretary type? ;)

"Assistant director of player development" would be something else, and show Woody's place in the hierarchy, but "assistant to" could be just about anything.
