Dave Sims on MLBN - Sunshine and Lollipops

1

Sims talks about his online hat store, calling games, and more intriguingly, he talks about King Felix days being universally known as "Happy Felix Day" and adopting the song "Sunshine and Lollipops" for each occasion. Also, short togas.

Mariners season opener to be on ESPN2

1

I can't remember the last time ESPN had the Mariners on so that's nice.

Tony La Russa could be the Mariners new club president

1

Not quite there yet though. Per Bob Nightengale, This is speculation but there's some actual meat here. Mariners began interviewing two internal candidates this week. Howard Lincoln did not confirm nor deny La Russa's candidacy. The forgotten story is looking to get more interesting in the coming weeks. Edit: Ryan Divish reports that interviews begin next week with internal candidates. There are also external candidates for consideration.

Beyond the Boxscore on Mariners lineup efficiency

Roy Halladay to retire

Over at Bill Simmons' pop culture, sports, pop culture, gardening, horoscope, pop culture, literature, pop culture, and book club website, Grantland.com, baseball writer Jonah Keri has a nice blurb about our own KS, in which a couple of rival execs are quoted with glowing comments.

Mat Gamel: Freely available talent

1

Just another example of what they talk about when they say "freely available talent". At the least, he'd add good depth for a team in AAA. At best, some team might finally give him a shot to see if maybe he really can hit in the Majors.
