Almonte on Blengino's Bad List. Cano and Miller also mentioned.

Almonte’s batted-ball mix to date is fairly ordinary, with no red flags, but no real upside either. There simply isn’t enough contact, or enough power to justify this level of contact. This hasn’t stopped him from playing every inning of every game to date, with 100% of his plate appearances out of the leadoff slot. If this is allowed to continue, records will be broken, and I don’t mean that in a positive way.

An Astros novelty: tandem starters

+

When you're a cellar dweller, perhaps you have room to experiment. "The Astros are the 1st organization to use 2 starters per game at every level of the minors. Instead of a 5-man, 5-day rotation, the Astros have 8 pitchers working in pairs every 4 days. What might not be noticed is that the Astros are using a derivative structure in the big leagues, too..."

Hindsight is always 20/20.

With R.B.I. Baseball 14, MLB takes a full swing at making its own games

NES classic RBI Baseball is back ...from LMLBAM?? This is a fascinating development in baseball video game content delivery. Will MLB seek to cut the publishers out of the equation? Seems like it would always be beneficial to sell expensive licenses to the game publishers, but why else do this if that's not your endgame (to de-leverage the publishers as a middle man to the video game market)?

Hector Noesi taking talents to Arlington

Not only is Noesi no longer a Seattle Mariner, he is now a Texas Ranger. Win-win situation for the Mariners.

Wow, this is a must read if you're into $/WAR

Well for me, at least, it was a must read a few times to understand all of it. He also penned a precursor piece explaining his methodology, to provide background for his analysis: http://www.hardballtimes.com/foundations-of-the-dollars-per-war-evaluation-framework/

538: When Spring Training Matters

2

Neil Paine at FiveThirtyEight.com did some research into how to adjust player projections based on their spring training performance, taking the top ten positive and negative adjustments and showing them in the post. Interestingly, four Mariners are included: Dustin Ackley and Brad Miller on the positive side, Corey Hart and Abraham Almonte on the negative.
