Okay, turns out I don't have time to say anything about last night's game. But then again, the less said of Jeff Weaver, the better, I think. Anyhoo, nobody likes losing series to Kansas City, right?

Weaver sucks, but
The Rangers still keep sending Mccarthy out there, I wouldn't mind a one for one trade. At least his career is salvageable and cheaper.

Why didn't we want him again?
Oh yeah, we knew Weaver was going to pitch decently in the World Series and we needed to clear up a roster spot.

by hcoguy on Apr 29, 2007 12:24 PM PDT up reply actions

I'm not sure it was that simple
He left in a midseason trade and obviously he wanted a shot to play postseason baseball, so given his age his wish was granted.  We had no idea he would continue to excel.

by Graham MacAree on Apr 29, 2007 12:32 PM PDT reply actions

You had to know
with Cabrera at the plate, that Moyer probably wasn't getting out with the no-no alive.  At 3-1, he probably should have thanked his lucky stars and walked him.

Cabrera doubles
dang.  Still, if you are gonna give up a hit to a Marlin...

by jtopps on Apr 29, 2007 12:32 PM PDT reply actions

This reminds me for whatever reason
of Moyer's 2-1 win in 2005 at Safeco against the Gambler (Kenny's first game after shoving those cameramen), and Moyer gave up a homer on the very first pitch to Gary Matthews Jr, but then shut out Tejas the rest of the way.

Not going to the game after all.

I remember last summer when we traded Moyer. I said that I'm happy, as it seemed to benefit both parties. Moyer got to be on a team that had a shot at the playoffs, and we rid ourselves of a pitcher who was costing too much money. Was I ever wrong.

Yeah, that

With tomorrow off, it's not a bad idea to try and avoid a 2-3 day gap between appearances.  Layoffs apparently have hindered his performance.

Layoffs won't be a problem
he'll have plenty of fires to put out in the next coupe of weeks.

Think?!
LOLOLOLOL THEY'D BETTER.

by Gomez on Apr 29, 2007 3:56 PM PDT up reply actions

They should
but until Weaver is released they won't, you know how Hargrove loves those veterans.

by Coach Owens on Apr 29, 2007 3:58 PM PDT up reply actions

Weaver's next start
is being skipped. He is supposedly going to work on the side for awhile and then slide back into the rotation because they don't want to flush 8 mil just yet.

Hey if the phillies can
stick their 8M/yr pitcher in the bullpen with no discerable plan, then we can too.

Except theirs is actually good, and weaver sucks.

This decision to keep Weaver as an SP seals it

hey man don't pout
You gotta admit, you've been a pretty major punk ass around here at various times. Some of the rowdier locals are gonna get salty, and those with long memories will stay salty for a while.

Nothing wrong with coming out and saying what you think, but if what you think is liable to get under someone's skin and you can't take the backlash, maybe it's better to read more and post less.

The USSM guys didn't either
Now I remember: you had to take off early, so you missed it.

The USSM guys were bagging on CoachOwens, and then suddenly someone pointed out that he and his dad/father/I forget were sitting right there, and DMZ was like, 'Oh shit!  You're here?!'

It was awkward and hilarious.

  3. fluky .068/.192/.091 - .283 OPS, 44 AB
At least he can walk.

I don't know much about his defense but I wouldn't bet on anything above average.

May have been wrong on defense
PMR has him above average in left field. Haven't checked any other systems.

Still, if they're looking for offense.

Yet another note
28.8% K rate in 2006 and 36.3% in SSS this year.

For a guy with very limited power threat. Bleh.

That's very encouraging, especially consider how cold much of the lineup has been, and the fact we lost Felix for two weeks.

W-L records after play on 4/29/07:

Seattle Mariners: 10-10
New York Yankees:  9-14

And that 10-10 record?
WITH Jeff Weaver making 4 starts!

So then does that tell us
that 3/5 of the rotation is capable of producing average (ie .500ish) results, 1/5 is amazing and 1/5 should be cut ASAP?
