I know how much this community loves posts about fantasy baseball (don't read the comments, seriously don't), so I've once again decided to push my luck and extend our relationship with Fanduel for another year. If you missed what happened last year, here's a quick primer. It's going to be the same deal this year, and the same application of the promotion will apply. Here's what you need to know.
Fanduel is a daily fantasy site where you can deposit money, win money, and remove money. You build teams by choosing players on a salary cap, looking for great matchups, undervalued players, and hot hitters to earn the most possible points in one day. Your team can go head-to-head against somebody else, it can go into a big league with bigger prizes, or it can go into a giant pool where you can win a ton of money.
Not everyone likes fantasy baseball, and we aren't a fantasy baseball site. That won't change. You won't see us inserting BOY I WISH I STARTED SETH SMITH IN FANDUEL™ into our posts, nor will we ever that tell you to spend your money playing fantasy sports. What you'll see are links at the bottom of our series previews to play, and sometimes there will be special sponsored promotions that have small fees and big prize pools.
The text at the bottom of sponsored posts will look like this, and this one also happens to be true!
Allow me to be a hungover middle school teacher for a second and play a video instead of explaining how it works.
Here are the official rules for your perusal.
It's an exclusive partnership between SB Nation and Fanduel, so you'll see this pop up a lot around the network. I'm supposed to disclose that Fanduel gives me money to play the game which lovely because I played it anyway before we joined up with them, but as of late I've been pretty terrible so they'll likely get it right back.
So, to summarize:
- If you were around last year, everything will be exactly the same
- If you weren't, welcome
- After this post you'll see a few links to play in two-three pieces per week, plus a couple of tweets from @LookoutLanding each week
- Our site content will not be fantasy-slanted in the least
- Open your cold, dead hearts and have some fun because Fanduel is fun
