The international signing period is upon us, and the Mariners have as expected signed Brayan Hernandez for $1.8m. He's Venezuelan and his name's Hernandez, so I expect he'll be good. No, I've never heard of anyone called Moises, that would be a silly name. The Ms have also signed another Venezuelan - catcher Ismerlin Mota - and a few Dominicans: outfielder Danny Contreras, shortstop Steve Branche, and pitcher Juan De Paula.
Luis Gohara made his Everett debut; it didn't go all that well but it's good to see him moving up. His compatriot Daniel Missaki had a couple of really good games and then got injured. Even if you'd never heard of him you'd probably guess he was a pitcher. D.J. Peterson also moved up - he hasn't done much so far, but it's early days yet. Meanwhile, Alex Jackson and Gareth Morgan debuted in Arizona. Morgan has a .158 BA and a .407 OBP, which is kind of impressive.
Not a single team in the minor league system has a winning record right now, and they've combined to lose 48 more games than they've won. Does this worry you at all or do you not care?
