Everett Cup Part Deux

It started off poorly for me. The first batter I faced laced my 0-1 offering off the wall in right center for a double. The next batter then singled him in. A stupid pick off attempt sent the runner to third after I tossed the ball down the right field line. Then I walked the next batter. Uh-oh...I was able to get a swinging strike out and was able to get out of the inning on a line out to third and toss across the diamond to double off the runner. Phew. Could have been a lot worse. My second inning started off auspiciously as well. My first pitch was grounded up the middle for a single. The rest of the inning was really a breezy blur, like a , but I know a pop out ended the inning, leaving us in a 1-0 hole. The next 7 innings went quickly, and the game ended 3-1. I realize that we aren't a whole lot different from them. They don't handle off speed well, and all of our pitchers exploited that weakness. As a whole, our seen pitchers recorded nine strikeouts while allowing just seven hits. I don't want to feel concerned for the future of the Mariners, as this is likely the way things are in the deep depths of affiliated baseball, but not a single hitter in the Aquasox line up knew what to do with a decently located off speed pitch, particularly change-ups. I recorded a weak popout and swinging bunt with my circle change. They could not make an adjustment to something soft in a fastball count.

Anyways, it was a lot of fun to take the field with those guys and have a shot at beating them. I'm tired and don't really have any obligation to keep writing. But thanks for all the support!
