Lookout Linkage, 5/8/14

Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports

News and stories about the Seattle Mariners and other analysis from around the league.

Hey they're over .500! Here are some links to celebrate!

  • Felix spoke about his performance during the first game of yesterday's double-header in which he did not record a strikeout and was otherwise not very effective, but said he isn't concerned.
  • Hey, remember the Ichiro look-alike who got ejected from an M's game way back in 2011? Well, apparently there are more fans dressing like Ichiro now attending baseball games.
  • ESPN came out with a pair of articles about Felix yesterday. The first, from Jerry Crasnick talks about how Felix may never reach the playoffs because of the uniform he wears. The second, by Dan Szymborski (insider required), is about how many more wins Felix might have to his name if he played with a "better offense."
  • As some of you Star Wars fans out there may have already known, Sunday was "Star Wars Day" (May the fourth be with you) and MLB Fan Cave had a cool little promotional baseball/Star Wars collaboration video. In it, Darth Felix takes on Jedi Master Ichiro (of the evil empire?). Who came out on top? Check it out.
  • Prospect Insider's Brendan Gawlowski profiles some of the best high school talent in the state of Washington who will be draft eligible this June.
  • Ok, you've got to check out the box score for last night's Clinton Lumberkings (Mariners' Single-A affiliate) game. Trust me here.
  • Former Mariner and current Blue Jay Brandon Morrow is headed for the 60-day DL, and he might not ever throw another pitch for the Jays.
  • Rangers' first baseman Mitch Moreland pitched in a lopsided loss to the Rockies and threw a clean 1-2-3 inning.
  • So the A's haven't used a rookie all season, which is a near-milestone. Athletics Nation wonders what this could mean.
  • Lev Facher of Athletics Nation also talks about the action of booing one's own player as the A's did with Jim Johnson on Tuesday.
  • The Astros' poor hitting might be largely a product of bad luck, argues The Crawfish Boxes.
  • David Coleman of the Crawfish Boxes looks at how Dexter Fowler has done defensively so far this year.
  • The Pittsburgh Pirates became the first MLB team to win on a walk-off replay review.
  • Yasiel Puig is now bat-flipping on routine fly-outs apparently.
