The Mariners make their return to the West Coast today with a 7:05 game against the Oakland A's. Chris Young will be taking the mound for the M's to face A's reclamation project Scott Kazmir, who of course is putting up numbers that look very little like the numbers he put up in Los Angeles over the past few years. Now sure, you have to point to success in Cleveland last year, because it's not like the A's pulled him out of thin air or anything. But all I'm going to say is that it only makes sense that he faces Chris Young tonight.
In lineup news, we get to experience the return of the best 1-2 punch this side of '95 with Michael Saunders hitting leadoff, followed by Stefen Romero in the two hole again. Not much else has changed besides another benching of Dustin Ackley for Cole Gillespie, which seems to be LLoyd's go to platoon move now. Whatever. Complaining about lineups doesn't do any good, unless it does somehow, but really, it doesn't.
Here's to hoping the M's can snag .500 tonight, and the crazy news is that with Wednesday's doubleheader giving the M's four games against the AL West this week, they could sincerely make up some ground lost during that awful losing streak. Or, you know, dig themselves in an even deeper hole. We'll have to see.

- Make sure you check out Scott's Q&A with Athletics Nation from earlier today, especially if you want to see what it's like to have the luxury of being nervous that one of your hitters is batting .371 on the season. Grass is greener, something like that, I don't remember how the saying goes.
