As has already been reported by MLB.com's Greg Johns and our own Scott Weber, Corey Hart was placed on the 15-day disabled list earlier today with a Grade 2 hamstring strain. According to Sportsinjuryclinic.net, a Grade 2 hamstring strain can considerably hamper an athlete's gait and cause recurring pain in the thigh and knee. However, it's not nearly as severe as a Grade 3 hamstring strain, which often refers to a torn muscle and requires more rehabilitation time. The official report is that Hart will be out for 4-6 weeks.
In the interim, Nick Franklin will fill in some considerable gaps in the lineup. Tonight, he's taking over Hart's spot at DH, but Lloyd McClendon told the media that Franklin might also see time at short, second base, and in the outfield as needed.
On the plus side, it's Hisashi Iwakuma night. Barring another bullpen meltdown, we shouldn't have too much to worry about -- for now.

- The Tacoma News Tribune's Bob Dutton points out that Robinson Cano has reached base safely in 26 consecutive games, matching a career high from 2012. He'll get the opportunity to beat that record tonight.
