Things are not good in Marinerland. But if there was ever a cure for Mariner Malaise, it's FELIX DAY!
You know what I would have said if you told me that the Mariners would only have 2 out of 5 of their projected starting pitchers, and one of them was pitching horribly, and starting pitchers 6-8 were all also a mess, and the bullpen was walking and getting walked off the world and the hitters weren't really clicking and they were still 7-11 and not in last place? I would have said that is not good and I'm not whelmed. This has been a bad week.
6 game losing streaks tend to beat us all down, especially when a 3 game sweep from the Marlins was involved. Those Marlins, who had been on their own 6 or 9 game losing streak coming into the Seattle series (or losing 9 out of 10, close enough) but who some project to make the playoffs. So there is your good news. It's Felix Day and it doesn't take much in baseball to turn losing streaks around. And the Astros are supposed to be worse than the Marlins, right?
Also, make sure you go check out the Stephen Pryor live chat from earlier today while you wait for the game to start. He hung out on LL for about 40 minutes and answered 25 or so questions. Peoplewatching from the bullpen, shared grooming tools, and Barbies were all topics of discussion (I would never lie to you.)
Game Info
- Astros @ Mariners, 7:10 p.m. PST
- Tonight's game will be televised on ROOT Sports and broadcast on 710 ESPN. If you live outside of the blackout-restricted area, you can also follow along online at MLB TV here.
- Whoa hey, Dustin Ackley is batting second. For all those who enjoy lineup construction freakouts, go wild! Ackley has been one of the better hitters for the Mariners this year, so it's probably a good idea to maximize the amount of at bats he gets. On that same note, Brad Miller moves to 9th and Stefen Romero is in RF batting 6th.
