This dreadful road trip is nearly at a close. The Marlins are teetering on the brink of their first sweep of the season and first against Seattle in franchise history. Giancarlo Stanton is probably taking whacks at the Lisa Frank-esque palm trees and sparkling dolphins as we speak, conditioning his muscles for another walk-off home run.
As announced last week, Brandon Maurer will be making his season debut in lieu of Blake Beavan, who has been sidelined with shoulder tendinitis. Outfielder James Jones, who was called up when Beavan was moved to the 15-day DL, has been sent down once again so that Maurer can take his spot on the roster.
In case you had any concerns about the state of the team after going 1-6 since last Sunday, now is not the time to panic. Lloyd McClendon doesn't appear to be worried, so maybe we shouldn't be either:
McClendon on 4-game skid: "It’s like I told my club last night, we’re fine. Just relax. Everything is going to be OK."
