How do you improve on a day where Hector Noesi is no longer a Mariner?
That's a serious question. I'm not sure it can be done.
In any event, the Mariners are looking to take the series from the A's tonight with a rematch between Sonny Gray and Erasmo Ramirez. Neither starter made out with a pristine record last time around. Erasmo got shelled in the 5th inning when Brandon Moss went deep for his first home run of the year, giving up a total of seven hits and five runs while striking out just one batter in four innings. Gray managed slightly better, totaling six hits, three walks, three runs, and three strikeouts over six innings for his first win of the season.
This evening will mark John Buck's first start in Seattle and second of the year. The A's have designated outfielder Sam Fuld for assignment and recalled Craig Gentry off of the disabled list. According to Susan Slusser, Gentry will be available to sub in as soon as tonight.
