International Signings Day

Signing of international free agents starts today. I know next to nothing of the potential signees, but there are a few useful articles scattered around the Web so I thought I'd pull some of them together.

Pride of place goes to this listing by "the Ancient Mariner". I don't think that's Raul Ibanez, but who knows? The article includes scouting reports, video and rumours on who's going where. The Mariners have been linked to SS Yeltsin Gudino (number 6 on the list) and OF Greifer Andrade (number 11), both expected to command bonuses of $1m or so. WARNING: the article contains tons of video and takes for ever to load.

BA's top 30 list includes both Gudino (at 8) and Andrade (at 21) - you'll have to be a subscriber to see much more. MLB's list, meanwhile, has Gudino at 11 and Andrade at 20, while Matt Garioch's list at minorleagueball has them at 16 and 17. Both of those lists have brief scouting reports.

Minorleagueball has a thread tracking reported signings. That thread also gives the pool amounts that each team is limited to. BA has a similar thread here, with explanations of how teams can trade for additional bonus pool space here.

Personally I think we should sign some power-hitting strikeout-happy outfielders, and maybe a shortstop who won't stick at the position. Those have always worked out so well in the past.
