BREAKING: MLB will seek to suspend A-Rod, Ryan Braun and about 20 players connected to Miami clinic. Founder Tony Bosch agreed to cooperate.— T.J. Quinn (@TJQuinnESPN) June 4, 2013
The Biogenesis clinic has been linked to many major leaguers, including Gio Gonzalez, Ryan Braun, Alex Rodriguez, Robinson Cano, Manny Ramirez, Melky Cabrera, Bartolo Colon, Yasmani Grandal, and Jesus Montero, among others. Braun beat his appeal and Gonzalez's purchases may have been legal, but today news broke that MLB now has Biogenesis founder Tony Bosch ready to cooperate and name names, which had been preventing them from fully pursing these suspensions before.
Here's the full story over at ESPN.com. MLB will seek a 100 game penalty for at least A-Rod and Braun, who lied about their connection before.
The full list of all players who may be suspended is as follows.
The players who might ultimately face discipline from MLB include: Alex Rodriguez, Ryan Braun, Melky Cabrera, Bartolo Colon, Yasmani Grandal, Nelson Cruz, Francisco Cervelli, Jesus Montero, Jhonny Peralta, Cesar Puello, Fernando Martinez, Everth Cabrera, Fautino de los Santos, Jordan Norberto, and a number of players who are either identified by code names or whose names appear in other documents not obtained by "Outside the Lines." All are currently on major-league rosters but for Puello, a top outfield prospect for the New York Mets who is playing in Class AA Binghamton.
If this is what Jesus Montero was like on PEDs, how bad is regular Jesus Montero? The quote specifies that all but one of the players are on major league rosters, so you can count out the other Jesus Montero (which is his brother, weirdly enough) playing in the Cardinals organization, even though this Jesus Montero isn't currently on an MLB roster either.
