Hello Lookout Landingers...Landers...whatever.
This is a Cardinals' fan stopping by to gather some stories. A few weeks ago, I went by the Nationals SBN site and fanposted a request for stories of how they became Nats' fans. This grew out of curiosity from last year's Birdos v. Nats NLDS. Their packed house had me wondering, who were these people pledging their baseball allegiance to several years ago? I wanted to post that right after the series, but given the gut-wrenching way it ended (for them) or glorious way it ended (for my boys), I thought it best to wait.
As I told them, every once in a while on vivaelbirdos.com, such a post appears, and the stories are usually not bad to interesting. So, after making a run at Nats' stories, I thought, 'why not do some more?'
So, my question to you is: how did you become a Mariners' fan? It may be an obvious question in this case (lack of geographic competition/love of baseball), so I thought I would tack on an extra question. What is your favorite "Mariners' moment."
For one, I really, really enjoyed watching your '95 squad. So much so, in fact, that I never fully bought Tino Martinez as a Yankee. In fact, they gave me good reason to come back, quickly, after the '94 strike. They were fun to watch and the Birdos kinda sucked.
Anyway, if you're game, I would love to read what you have to say. I'll check back occasionally and reply if asked a question or respond to posts if the mood strikes me.
It goes without saying, feel free to stop by vivaelbirdos if the notion grabs you.
PS- the Cards will not be trading Oscar Taveras for that SS you have. Thanks, but no thanks.
