OT, Mar 15 -- the Ides of March ed.

of course, the Ides of March are almost over, but when needs must, as they say.

Apparently, the Ides bring out bad wigs in some folks Didja know that the Ides of each month were sacred to Jupiter?

The Ides also appear to be signalling (once again) the exit of Team USA from the World Baseball Classic whilst playing America's game-- although Joe Mauer just forced a triple, which led to the first USA run of the game. Apparently, Joe got married in the off-season, to a nice girl he's known since high school. I think the more important news was that the Tater Masher was at the wedding, too.

Mid-Marxh is when the festival of Las Fallas takes place in Spain. This should not be confused with Middlemarch, a fine novel by George Eliot, who was not a guy. Almost 20 years ago there was a swell tv adaptation of the novel, with an excellent performance of by Douglas Hodge as young doctor Tertius Lydgate. Hodge had a bit of a success a few years back with the Broadway revival of La Cage aux folles.
