If this is something that applies to you: around what age do you recall having gotten deeply interested in music, and in seeking new music out? Why do you recall that happening?

If this isn't something that applies to you, but you've stumbled into this thread anyway: is there a particular reason why this isn't an interest of yours? What do you think of people for whom new music is a primary pastime? This is going to be embarrassing for me if the thread isn't active. No more embarrassing than writing about the Seattle Mariners almost every day, of course.
