For long-time fans of the M's, the name David Bell might ring a...hmm let me rephrase. Long time Ms fans might remember the name of David Bell.
He was a good defensive 3B with moderate power and speed who played with the Ms from 1998 to 2001. He was replaced in 2002 by the 3B who-shall-not-be-named.

Similar power and patience with more strikeouts. Seager's minor league strikeout rate, however, was 12% and 10% in AA and AAA. This suggests that Seager's current strikeout rate should be lower than it is given his minor league rates.
Currently Seager's defense looks to be above average by eye and by UZR. Last year it wasn't so hot by UZR's estimate. Defense stats can vary quite a bit from season to season though.
This was roundabout way of saying Seager's pretty good. But is he a longterm answer at 3B? Given the recent history I'd say stick with Seager unless something amazing comes along. But then I might be emotionally scarred by Chone Figgins.
