Consider this an off topic thread, regardless of the title. I am not as eloquent as Jeff or as brilliant as Matthew or as astronomically oriented as Jay, so let's just get right to the bullet points
- Mike Rizzo announced that Stephen Strasburg won't go over 180 innings this season to protect him for the future. I'm not sure how I feel about this - on the one hand, protecting assets is absolutely correct, especially when that asset is the best pitcher in baseball who did not pitch for the 2011 Mariners. However, if we assume that the point of baseball is to win the World Series, I hate the thought that the best pitcher will be shut down during what will likely be a Nationals playoff run. Right now, the marginal value of a Nationals win compared to a Nationals win in the playoffs is virtually zero - I would love to see them stretch his starts out so they can use him in the playoffs.
- Marcus Littlewood has an .815 OPS in Everett with a near .400 OBP. Unfortunately he's hitting .252 with a .327 BABIP... but real catching prospect?
- Recently stopped in Seattle and picked up some great beers thanks to some LL members. Anything recent new or awesome that you've had?
- Football season is rapidly approaching. Who do you support that's not the Seattle Seahawks?
