Redrawing the Divisions.....

.....by payroll. I rounded the numbers off and I know there are some flaws in my division names (the Cardinals won it all, the Nats/Expos were not good in the 90s). All numbers are in millions. Do you think this would keep viewers more interested during later parts of the season? Do you think the playoffs would still be competitive? Would it work better if they took one team from each of the below divisions and made balanced divisions that way? Here it goes.

The "Moneyball" Division:

Yankees - 198

Phillies - 175

Red Sox - 173

Angels - 154

Tigers - 132

The "We keep spending all this money, but still can't win" Division:

Rangers - 121

Marlins - 118

Giants - 118

Cardinals - 110

Brewers - 98

The "Upper Middle Class" Division:

White Sox - 97

Dodgers - 95

Twins - 94

Mets - 93

Cubs - 88

The "Lower Middle Class/We were good in the 90s" Division:

Braves - 83

Reds - 82

Mariners - 82

Orioles - 81

Nationals - 81

The "Small Market" Division:

Indians - 78

Rockies - 78

Blue Jays - 75

Diamondbacks - 74

Rays - 64

The "Those guys are still around?/AAAA" Division:
