Just wanted to give a quick shout out to my boy Charlie Furbush who's been doing one hell of a job for us in the bull pin. When we traded Dougie Fister I was supper cranky with the Mariners because Fister was a delight to watch at Safeco field, threw strikes and for the most part kept the ball in play so the defense could do their job. I also remember earlier in the season watching a Detriot Tiger game and seeing Furbush pitch and the 16 year old in me laughed a little inside and thought wouldn't a Furbush vs Fister game be a hoot. Then we traded for him and I did a little inside laugh again. However, Furbush was used in Detroit's bull pin and then started a few games, Furbush's numbers as a starter were not amazing, 5.48 ERA in 2010 and 6.62 ERA last year don't get me all exited however, This year Furbush has tossed 32.1 innings with an astonishing low 1.91 ERA and averaging almost 12 K's a game.
I not suggesting that Furbush is a long term solution on this team I just think before we jump the Hultzon gun and lose out on a year of his contract we should explore a simple switch Furbush for Noesi in the lineup and Noesi to the bull pin for a little while. Not to mention we are all exited to see what the boys like next year Felix, Hultzon, Vargas, Walker, Furbush in 2013 or exchange Vargas for Paxton if you like Vargas maybe traded. The point being that we have a little time left with our not lost season of 2012 but season to see what some of these young guys have. Lets see if Furbush can start or if he should just forever be a long relief out of the pin.
See at the Safe everybody.
