There's a 24-hour waiting period before you can comment.
It is a small barrier, but it can naturally filter out some because folks want the immediate satisfaction of registration and posting. Although registration is so much easier now that SBN allows you to login with Facebook.
Except that they sign up now, then get pissed off they have to wait.
Then come back on opening day and are able to post. HOORAY!

I'd imagine because people who don't follow the Mariners
