The Royals signed him the day after I bought season tickets!
No matter where you go, there you are.
I'll carry my hatred till his dying day >:(
How come you can do all this other great shit, but you can't lie the fuck down and sleep?

We have lost one of the players on the roster whom you could count on covering you in a bar fight.
If you’re concerned about this type of things of course. I prefer that they be good at baseball or, failing that, entertaining.

Wait, this is an attractive quality in a roster player?
I should submit an application along with footage from my black belt grading.
MLB here I come!

Perhaps Cortes should consider a career in Aussie Rules Football as I've been led to understand fighting style/ability is an actual consideration.

I can cover them in a bar fight much better than you.
I’m 210. I can cover then in a bar fight.
Heading off the inevitable Fielder joke.
Jeff, the video brought up a question.
My folks live in Elbe just 15 miles from Mt. Rainer. If Rainer blows are they in its path? If so, how much time would they have to leave?
I certainly don't want to sound callous
But the truth of it is, they’re fucked.
Of course, Tacoma is pretty fucked too, and really most of the Puget Sound region.
One of the only benefits of living on South Hill in Puyallup is that I fear no lahar.

Doesn't "only" imply a single benefit?
I don’t like ‘only’ being used as a synonym for ‘few.’
“One of the only benefits” should be “the only benefit” or “one of the few benefits”

I don't know.
But for me use of “only” there has always implied that the remaining list is very small, certainly small enough to be recited. Also that use seems more concrete than few since it requires the imagining of the rest of the “only benefits” on reading.
While that is the way I meant it, Matthew is correct as the way I used only was wrong.
In this case, using few seems like TOO many reasons but narrowing it down with terms like “one of the couple” or “off a short list” annoys me in that it seems overly cumbersome.

I can see it with an included number,
like “one of the only two benefits” would work, but without that number, it seems redundant to state one of the only.
And it really is the only one.
South Hill is a shit show.

Depends on which way it goes.
I grew up, and my family lives in Morton. 17 miles SW of Elbe. No one hear is worried about Mt. Rainier. I seem to recall that the most likely direction of an “eruption” is to the NW.
Depends on the magnitude of the eruption, doesn't it?
But Elbe is not in a particularly safe place. In the event of a significant mudflow, Elbe would be at risk, and your parents would likely have 1-2 hours to get away.
