A (potential) new community member
I have been reading Lookout Landing for a little while now, say two years now. The site has been good to me, but I will admit when I first started, I only read this site maybe once a week. But, as time went on, so did my love for this site. It has been a guilty pleasure the last six months, as I find myself checking for updates before work, after work, during breaks, at school between classes, and everywhere in between. It went from a small niche to something I found myself looking at at least 5 times a day hoping for something new. ( I should warn you, this FanPost has no rumors, or any insightful crunching of data)
I would like to commend Jeff and Matthew for making this blog amazing, which is why I am pausing and rethinking my ideas more than I normally do on my college essays (a good thing!). I find myself not wanting to be a pain, a troll, or an idiot, which some others have succeeded in being all three! I see how other SB nation blogs can be (Halo Heaven comes to mind, and more recently, whatever blog Al Yellon runs) and it makes me happy that my hometown team has the best blog I can find.
A few things I should clear up about myself as a Mariner fan, I am excited for the new season, as football is winding down, and my favorite NBA player (Brandon Roy) has been forced to an early retirement. I believe GMZ is doing what it takes to build a winner. I agree with almost everyone else on this site that Felix is ours and you can't have him. My favorite current Mariner is Ackley. I understand basic ideas like ISO power, Fielding independent fielding, babip and sss, and how things like wins, BA and ERA can be unpredictable. Besides that, just a basic 21 year old baseball fan who enjoys the site. I wanted to keep this short and sweet, so I will rap this up here and hopefully I can be a solid community member from the get go.

You joined at 4:30am, PST.
It is now almost 6am PST and nobody has responded yet. This is probably normal. Nobody should be awake right now. But since it’s early afternoon for me, the situation seems awkward from my perspective. Soooo…
Hello! And welcome! And yes, indeed, we are lucky to have the best baseball blog for our team. Also Felix.

That was done by design
I was not trying to go the “look at me route” which I thought this might have appeared to be, so I thought posting really early in the morning would negate that feeling slightly.
Thank you for the response.
I was recently disavowed from my favorite baseball team's SBN site and have been thinking about for year whether or not I have what it takes to watch not one, but two baseball games a night. Every night.
I like the Mariners because they’re not afraid of Asians (I’m glaring at you Chicago White Sox), but mostly because they play at 10:00 PM local time so that after watching the Rays I would still have something to do to stave off suicidal thoughts. I’ve admired many of the members over here and wanted to let you know that I’m putting my full weight (or whatever’s left after the Rays are done with me) behind the Mariners this year as they are now my second favorite team in the land. I hope to be able to contribute, but if not, feel free to beat me with soap in a pillowcase as I’m really just a masochist that hasn’t been getting his fix since the Rays started winning. P.S. My favorite NBA player is not Brandon Roy.
and there goes our season

Just a friendly heads up
If you plan on posting here alot you might consider shortening (preferably eliminating) your signature, they’re somewhat frowned upon here. Welcome!

I suppose this is as good of a time as any to introduce myself as well.
I commented under the name “Ghost Dad” a while back but that was tied into a Facebook account that I deactivated. I’ve been reading LL since 2010. I enjoy long walks and beaches but not together. My favorite NBA player is Fat Lever (real dude!)
Lafayette Lever!
I remember him from when I used to watch basketball. You know, when it was fun to watch.

I got a chuckle from
“Fielding independent fielding”
Brandon Roy was also my favorite player, now I have absolutely no reason to watch the NBA.
LL is always welcoming to level headed fans, so you’ll be fine as long as you don’t suck up to Jeff and Matthew too much, but hey they might even give you a pass on that too.
Haven't you heard?
Fielding independent fielding is a revolutionary way to grade defense, which takes that pesky little thing called fielding out of the equation. This is also called the Gold Glove.

But, thank you
Along with when Brandon Roy retired, so did my interest in basketball, which is what I was getting at. Why I thought posting here might quell the sports fan in me a bit.
I know that you are all accepting to level headed fans, but I have seen how some people have destroyed the early grace period and failed to ever get it back, which is the opposite of what I am trying to do.

I was a penom, 17 years of age in the pro's
Then they realized, wait, that’s not John Parish, not John Parrish, no wonder he is pitching so badly! In all honesty, that is as close to the MLB I will ever get to, I was only one letter away!
My dad was on the famous Boston Celtics team with Bird, though, and I am a British musician.

Ditto.
Time to introduce myself. I am almost exactly the same as John Parish, just a year younger. Thanks for making that easy on me.
