Spring Training booked!

Thanks for everybody's input last month on Spring Training tips. I am hitting the following games:

3/7~ Seattle/Reds in Peoria

3/8~ KC/Cubs in Surprise

3/9~ Indians/Pujols in Goodyear

3/10~ Seattle/D-backs in Peoria

Despite being advised to take the cheapie seats at each venue... with the price difference being just a few bucks, I took the available box seats (upper level) in Peoria on the 10th. What the heck makes those as good as the premium seats just behind home plate?

Also, any other tips of things to hit around Surprise and Goodyear for those who have been?

Hahaha- there are plenty of restaurants, but otherwise it's suburban Phoenix

If you like outdoorsy stuff, there’s some good, low trafficked, quite scenic, easily accessible hiking up in the Agua Fria canyon about an hour north on I-17- take 17 to exit 256, head east to the parking lot, and start hiking. Despite being right by the freeway, there aren’t a lot of folks on the trails the couple times I’ve been up there, and there’s some neat desert/forest transition zone scenery.

The stadium in Goodyear is in the middle of nowhere

My parents spend their winters right nearby- there’s pretty much nothing within a mile of it- there’s an excellent hot dog place (Ivy League Dogs) right off Estrella and I-10 across the street from Walmart, but that’s about it as far as attractions go in Goodyear. The stadium is right by the Goodyear airport, which stores off-lease planes, so if you like looking at late model but not old enough to be terribly interesting 737s, that’s cool- you can’t go in though, just what you see as you drive by.

Yeah, there really isn't anything in Goodyear.

Just suburbia. But it’s a nice park. Enjoy the game, and then leave and do something elsewhere after.

The stadium in Surprise is very beautiful.

Another hiking/ walking idea. Asante Park in Surprise is a nice play to go for a walk. Have fun!
