60-83, Chart
The Mariner hitters swung and missed 21 times, which is atrocious, but it's great to see another home run from Ichiro Suzuki and finally a home run from Justin Smoak, his first since like June something and clearly the biggest play of the game when it broke a 1-1 tie in the 6th inning. Jason Vargas didn't have an extraordinary game, but more the type of game that he needs to have more often to be his usual roughly league average self. Well done by the bullpen though, covering the final three innings with little trouble to secure the win and bring the Mariners one win closer to avoiding a 100-loss season.

That was about as quiet as I've ever experienced Safeco
I’d estimate about 3-4K at first pitch. You could hear nearly every word of the broadcast (from the concourse) down in the field level seats. And Mike Carp tossed me a foul ball! and acknowledged our love on a few occasions. I still have no idea why he was in left field, but at least he was interacting with the crowd.

Solid writeup, gives a good feel for the game.
Flipping back and forth between the Saints-Packers, baseball gamee seeming to go by really quick, hey sweet Smoak blast. Game. Seems like it took a quarter and a half of time in football to play a whole baseball game.
Ready to Play
Just watched that Smoak homerun and man was I happy to see him punish a pitch like that.
Obviously its late and the season and hot and cold streaks should be taken with a mighty large grain of salt, but still. Nobody in my mind needs to finish the year strong like Justin does especially with him missing what feels like half of the season.
Go get ’em Justin

Ichiro golfs a 1st pitch curveball 10 rows back...
And some people still doubt he can hit home runs at will
I was surprised how confident I felt about Tom Wilhelmson pitching the 8th.
He’s starting to look like a real find. And it was nice to see Jason Vargas use his change-up effectively once again. Jamey Wright showed his best form as well.
A well-pitched game by the Ms with the pleasant excitement factor of the home-runs by Ichiro and Justin Smoak. For a bad team the 2011 Mariners have had their moments. This game wasn’t as thrilling or memorable as some, but it wasn’t bad.

BTW
Can we get some hot .gif action on that takedown of Francouer in the third(?) inning? Such a great play by Ackley, and hilarious play by Gimenez.

Admit it: You all want to see Gimenez throw just a _little_ more shoulder into that, doncha?
…or is it just me?
Also – what the hell do we do about the Catcher position next year? I can see Bard still being around as a veteran backup, but with so few games remaining can we really evaluate the two youngun’s?
He did just fine!
Frenchy puts his hands up to cushion the collision, but Gimenez pulls a Bernard Hopkins-worthy slip and tucks the shoulder into the face.
Not to complain, but there was a better angle on it where you get to see Francouer's stupid face get stupid smacked.
It was about the 0:35 mark on the tape. It’s okay though, MLB.com is very sure to slow down that replay. Dang that’s satisfying.
It was actually a lousy throw on Ackley's part
Great job by Gimenez

Agreed, really poor job by Ackley
Phenomenal by Gimenez
Only three more and they avoid 100 loses. Which to me is the victory I'm looking for this season.
