Set for first playoffs, Bloomquist on 'cloud nine'
By this November, Willie Bloomquist will have played in as many postseasons as Ichiro. This is a cruel universe.

I've already accepted that Ballgame is gonna "Dave Roberts" his way into history this October.
RIP Dave Niehaus.
Kind of ironic that now your avatar should probably be the other way around.
2011 Safeco Field Record: 1-0 ; Overall Safeco Field Record: 13-5
It's kinda funny if you think about it, because believe me, I have.
I started kinda following the DBacks in 2005, when their farm system was the top in the game and they looked to have among the brightest future in baseball. The infamous 2006 offseason for Seattle put my at the point where
I kinda made Arizona my “main team” because Seattle looked to have no future and Arizona was on the way up. I got rewarded with the 2007 NL West title and the NLDS sweep of the Cubs(Chris Young homering off of Ted Lilly as he slams his glove will always be one of my enduring baseball memories)Meanwhile the Mariners were terrible.
2008-2010 saw Arizona go from mediocre to terrible and the Mariners look to have a future. A flurry of terrible moves from the Eric Byrnes extension to the Dan Haren trade finally convinced me to shed my loyalty to Arizona. My only emotional connection to the DBacks were Mark Reynolds(who was traded) Conor Jackson (who got AIDS and died I guess) and Justin Upton.
And now, the Mariners are terrible again(albeit with a much brighter future than before) and the DBacks are good again.
In short. Fuck You baseball gods!
RIP Dave Niehaus.
This is why you never, never change team allegience.
In Australia it’s practically unheard of, and may make you a pariah around your aporting nut friends.

I wouldn't call it changing allegiances, more like, hedging my bets.
Which didn’t work out really. It’s a way of bracing myself against the losing.
Now I’ve switched to picking a bandwagon team each year until the Mariners are good. Like last year it was the Twins. This year it was supposed to be the Braves. But I haven’t had hardly any time to follow the M’s, much less a 2nd team.
RIP Dave Niehaus.
Good for him
Now that he’s not a Mariner anymore, I like him and want to see him succeed

I like the Diamondbcks.
But, Bloomquist.
I like the Brewers.
But, Yuni.
Guess I’m rooting for an American League team in the playoffs this year.
You would really root against the Diamondbacks because of Willie? They have J.J. Putz you know, right?

My college roommate is from Phoenix
And I saw my first professional baseball game in Arizona. I will probably be rooting for the Diamondbacks in the National League. That was me being cute.
The other part, though – just doesn’t seem right for Yuni to have a ring before Ichiro or Felix. In this case, that’s enough for me to root against them.
But he's in the top 50 for active career stolen bases!
