Heartfelt Sympathies to Michael Saunders
Michael Saunders has been one of many struggling young Mariners players and the one I most want to succeed. I've thought for a long time he could be THAT guy that everyone would kill to have on their team. I've known about his mother's illness since early last year and wondered how much of that personal pain has caused his struggles. I know people expect professional athletes to perform no matter what, I think that is neither fair nor realistic. Whatever the case may be, I am still rooting for you Michael, in baseball and in life.
Ryan Divish and Shannon Drayer reported today that Michael Saunders' mom lost her battle with breast cancer. Baseball aside, I wanted to send my condolences and thought others may want to as well. All the best to you, Michael.

I am hoping Michael can come back strong.
Mariners players are not real lucky when it comes to family health as evidenced by Jose Lopez and Justin Smoak.
My condolences to his family.

Didn't he hit his first homerun on mothers day last year?

It takes a toll on you. I feel for him, and I hope he comes out of this strong.
And for you too-- it is a hard thing
