Is it bad that I know that's an alert screen from Star Trek?
Fans are typically idiots.

I would hope that any self respecting geek would.
And if I had to guess, I’d say it’s specifically from Star Trek III.
RIP Dave Niehaus.
I love Carp ding dongs.
How come you can do all this other great shit, but you can't lie the fuck down and sleep?
I wished they had put a shot of Nolan Ryan.

Two Hole Stupidity
Eric Wedge’s approach to the two hole is madness. The logic seems to be that we need whoever bats second to be able to bunt the leadoff hitter over. You don’t want to bunt with one of your better hitters. Therefore, you must bat someone who’s NOT one of your better hitters second.
Not only is it stupid to place one of your poorer hitters at the top of the order, it’s made more stupid by the fact that bunting is, generally, stupid. And in the specific case of batting with your two-hole hitter, your opponent is likely to walk the three-hole hitter (aka one of your better hitters). Which pushes the stupidity right into a big chasm of dumb.
Bat Ackley second, please. By the way, he’s probably one of the most likely guys on the team to be able to bunt for a base hit, if you’re stupid enough to ask him to bunt. In all respects Ackley has the makings of a great two-hole hitter.
Eric Wedge doesn't have an approach to specific spots in the lineup on the account of every current lineup combination being bad.
I'm convinced that
if Wedge had Ichiro, Ackley and seven league average bats for the seven other positions, that his lineups would look very very shiny. Until that blessed day, I’m fine with Wedge playing Lineup Lottery.
