He had been signed to a minor league deal before being released though.

Yeah. Lopez is currently unemployed too
But I was referring to their previous stints with the Yankees and Marlins organizations, respectively.
Anyway I wouldn’t be surprised if Batista is unemployed soon too; even the Mets’ desperation has limits.

He’s been in the league nearly 20 years now. Longevity in mediocrity I guess. He always seemed like a nice guy, he wasn’t worth his contract while he was here but I still liked him. Also, I had no idea he wrote a book (I learned this after looking at his wiki page). I would be willing to read it.
