Why sign Jack Cust when we could've signed...
Jack Cust (1 year, $2.5M): .322 wOBA, 2 HR (106 wRC+)
Vladimir Guerrero (1 year, $8.0M): .315 wOBA, 5 HR (95 wRC+)
Hideki Matsui (1 year, $4.25M): .254 wOBA, 3 HR (58 wRC+)
The best performing option will now be sharing time with Mike Carp!

Stop using reason and numbers!
Thanks for this. Distaste for Jack Cust is founded in a complete disregard for process AND results. That’s not an easy combination to pull off.
I hate how people state DHs need to hit home runs, because that's what they're "supposed to do."
No they aren’t. They’re supposed to help the team win, in any way possible.
Jack Cust is a good player. He may not hit as many dingers as we’d like, but don’t knock on him for only that.
Yeah, hearing people say things like that is like nails on a chalkboard to me, it's that irritating.
The sole purpose of a DH is to provide offensive value. I don’t care if Jack Cust only ever walked, if he did it enough to generate significant offensive WAR I’d be happy.
