Major League 4: Ready to Play
Synopsis:
Howard Lincoln, the former chairman of Nintendo of America, has been charged with representing Nintendo's ownership interests in the Seattle Mariners baseball team. Nintendo wants to move the team to Japan, but in order to do this, Lincoln must reduce the season's attendance at Safeco Field to under 800,000 tickets sold, which will trigger an escape clause in the team's lease with the city of Seattle. After moving the team, Nintendo would be able to release all the current players and replace them with new ones. Lincoln forces his new General Manager Jack Zduriencik to hire the worst team possible from a list he has already prepared.
The team's season starts off poorly with Brandon League's initial pitching appearances ending in disaster. Wedge discovers that League's eyesight is poor and once he is given glasses, he becomes very accurate. As the team begins to improve towards a winning record, Zduriencik reveals Lincoln's plan to Wedge who then relays the same news to the players, telling them that if the team plays too well for Lincoln to void the lease, he will bring in worse players who will. However, the team decides that since they have nothing to lose, the team should get back at Lincoln by winning the pennant.
The team plays very well down the stretch of the season, and eventually clinch a tie for the division by beating the Texas Rangers on the last game of the season. This forces a one-game playoff with the division's co-leaders, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Carlos Peguero comes to the plate with a runner on second and points towards center field, calling his shot. Peguero then hits a routine fly ball to Torii Hunter, but Hunter loses it in the stadium lights, causing the run to score and the Mariners to win the game and advance to the playoffs.

The Indian's fan in the final panel needs to be recast.
His erection is clearly too small for audiences to accept him as Jeff.
This is genius!
So apparently the actor who played Pedro Cerrano in the original movie is also the Allstate guy…
Does this mean that Peguero has a future in commercials?
Holy shit, never realized that. I know he's also in Mr. Baseball.

Dennis Haysbert
Was also the Sgt in “The Unit” and the POTUS in 24, not to mention (somewhat more baseball-related) “Master Ox” in Kung Fu Panda 2. Peguero would seem to have a lot of choices ahead of him.
The Unit was amazing. Damn CBS!
I fucking hate you Mariners
I'd be more interested in what the future holds for Brandon League.

I shudder at the thought of Wedge pulling off a piece of clothing from a cardboard cutout of Lincoln for every win.

Our Vietnamese custodians were probably doubting us at the beginning of the year, too

Those guys weren't Vietnamese.
They were Japanese. At least they were SPEAKING Japanese.
“Cleveland Indians wa hontoni hettakusou”, “Hai.” (lit – “The Cleveland Indians are really terrible” [translated as “They’re shitty”, which works], “Yep.”)

Does this mean for the sequel we can replace him with Omar "Foreman" Epps?
