Day after day for nearly every possible game, Ichiro Suzuki has been a constant outfield presence for the Seattle Mariners. Of the 1,679 games the Mariners have played since Ichiro first donned the uniform, he has started 1,603 of them in either center or right field. Unless something unusual happens, today will be Ichiro’s 1,604th outfield start and his 1,352nd in right field

Early congratulations, Ichiro on tying and, I assume tomorrow, passing Jay Buhner for the most starts in right field as a Mariner. Later this summer, Ichiro will pass Ken Griffey Jr. for second place on the list for most games played in a Mariner uniform. He’s still about 400 shy of Edgar Martinez for the all-time lead, but he would pass that near the end of the 2013 season should he still be a Mariner.
