Kazuo Matsui back in the NPB

Pro Baseball Provides Morale Boost in Japan

Ever wonder what happened to Kazuo Matsui, the much-hyped Japanese infielder who never lived up to his billing with the Mets and was then briefly seen during the Rockies' postseason run before ending his MLB career ignomiously with the Astros?

He's now playing for the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles, a team based in Sendai which of course was devastated by the earthquake and tsunami and the ongoing nuclear hazard.  

So even though he's now stuck in a post-apocalyptic irradiated hell-hole, it's still a step up from playing for the Astros.
