A's @ M's, 7/21/04
Remembering this game that I went to, I looked at the box score and realized that the game's first and last pitches both resulted in home runs. I wonder how many times this has happened. I couldn't think of a method that would allow me to figure this out in a reasonable amount of time. But maybe someone here knows the answer or will be intrigued enough to do the research?

Don't have time to do the leg work on it...
But it seems like a way to go about it would be to cross check a list of games with lead off dingers with a list of walkoff dingers?
Baseball-Reference's play index would do this
But you need to subscribe. You can go through how you’d set up the query (I got HRs as first OR last play of game; not sure how you make that an ‘AND’), but you can only see a fraction of the results w/o subscribing.
Incidentally, this sort of thing makes me want to subscribe… that’s a flexible tool.
