I'm desperately hoping for Lulu Part Deux
I like trainwrecks!
But in all seriousness, there’s a Craig Finn solo record coming out that I’m pretty excited about; there’s a new Imperial Teen record, and the Dirty Three are putting out another record! Yay!
Lulu was one of the biggest disappointments in a long time.
At least I was excited about it before it came out.

Amnesty International is releasing a massive artists' tribute to Bob Dylan album.
While a lot of the artists covering his music seem pretty logical (Pete Townsend, My Morning Jacket, Lucinda Williams), I’m truly excited to hear what the likes of Miley Cyrus and Ke$ha do with his songs.
Wow, and here I was going to rip my ears off, fry them up, and eat them as pork rinds
Now I can just listen to Miley and Ke$ha butcher Bob Dylan and get the same effect :)
Ok, that might have been a bit rude, sorry.
Ke$ha's must be like the taste of herpes then

I'm missing something or I'm missing something else
But either way, she probably tastes like herpes.
It's easy to mock, but I'm with you -
I’ve never been a big Dylan fan, but a few years ago Anberlin did this fantastic cover of “Like a Rolling Stone” that I found quite refreshing, making Dylan’s lyrics accessible.
I have an older (than me) friend who’s a big folk and blues fan, and when I was in high school was introducing me to the music. And he said liking Bob Dylan means liking Dylan’s delivery. My response “His delivery sounds like a permafried coke addict.” His response “That’s because that’s exactly what he is.”
Detest Dylan, love his songwriting. And I’m not all that opposed to Miley Cyrus, though Ke$ha…augh.
Mark Lanegan's Blues Funeral.
On account of Mark Lanegan is awesome.

I just don't follow music much these days
So thank you for pointing this out and giving me something to look forward to.
Rush
“Clockwork Angels” comes out in the spring, hopefully their tour swings through here in time to hit The Gorge by late summer.

The Shins, No Doubt, and the xx
off the top of my head.
I still miss Doug Fister :(
Sigh - In Somniphobia
Wintersun – Time (if it ever gets released)
Don’t know of any more off the top of my head.

Kay Kay & His Weathered Underground's third record will hopefuly come out at some point.
The possibility of new Tera Melos and Kidcrash albums is exciting as well. But aside from that nothing really jumps to mind.
I haven't gotten that excited about anything Modest Mouse has done for about 8 years
but their new album was produced by Big Boi. Kind of interested to see what that is going to be like.
To take it to the hip hop world for a moment...
That Brother Ali album produced by Jake One is at the top of my list. One of my favorite rappers and one of my favorite producers doing an album together is just wonderful.
Also, that DJ Premier and Freddie Foxxx album seems interesting enough.

David Crowder Band's 7.
I haven’t paid much attention to upcoming albums, but this one has had me stoked and sad for the last several months as it’s their last album together.
How about some non-English language songs/artists you like?
Recently I’ve been foraying into Swedish music (see previous Friday music thread), and am enjoying Veronica Maggio’s music.
Sometimes I go on this weird Mayumi Kojima kick.
She does jazz mostly but uses a pretty big range within that, though it’s kind of hit or miss for me. Her two most famous tracks are among my favorites.

I feel like maybe I have some responses to this topic now.
Refused is supposedly reforming for Coachella. I would probably not go to Coachella because it seems like the kind of thing that you have to do early in your life so that you’re moderately oblivious to how much of a hassle it seems like it would be, but the idea of Refused getting back together kind of excites me. I know almost nothing about the present state of hardcore, but The Shape of Punk to Come is still pretty experimental to this day and it would have been nice if they had followed it up, or if anyone had followed them up.
On a similar note, and a different realm of music, The Stone Roses are back together and touring as well, and they only had two albums of varying quality. They’re recording a third. How is this music stuff supposed to work anyway when you have nearly twenty years between albums?
The third thing is that Andrew Bird is going to have a new album in a couple of months. He usually does good things, or enough musical sense to where I sort of have faith in him even if I can expect that the lyrics will mostly just be him rambling about calcium and defunct civilizations.
Woah - The Stone Roses? I would have loved to see them 20 years ago.
Varying quality albums is a nice way of putting it. It’s like saying Figgins’ 2009 and 2011 were varying quality seasons.
I hope they tour with The Charlatans (UK) and Starflyer 59 (who are probably both back together too).
I know it's the minority opinion, but I like some tracks off of Second Coming.
Other tracks, however, make me want to throw whatever device is playing it out of the nearest window.

To be fair, it's been 15 years since I listened to Second Coming.
And The Charlatans (UK) IS back together!
The Stone Roses were apparently a terrible live act back in the day, I dread to think what they'd be like now.
Especially at the prices they’ll be asking.
Them making a comeback still makes a little bit more sense in my mind than Refused making a comeback
even though I’m pretty sure Refused has developed more of a following in the ~thirteen years since their break-up ed: holy crap I was just in high school bemoaning the fact that I never saw them than The Stone Roses have in their post break-up period.
