Mariners might have made Prince Fielder an offer
They also might not have. If they have, that is because this is the natural progression of things.

But did they talk to Boras, too?
Are they trying to do some back door dealings with just Prince? And will it work? I knew that Z’s relationship with Prince would help in some way.

Loving the Fielder news that's coming out.
(paraphrased)
Heyman: Mariners think Fielder is a good player, and have let his agent know approximately how much they are willing to pay.
Olney: Cubs think Fielder would make their team better, but will not sign a contract written by FIelders’ agent without negotiation on the terms.

They keep pushing the Cubs
How good is their farm system? I know we play in a tougher division, but doesn’t the outlook for the Mariners look better than the Cubs? What with all the pitching, etc.
Carlos Silvelite
Cubs have more money, and now have a good GM.
That, along with being a bigger market team and appealing to Princes ego in the fact that if the win a WS with him, he will be the man who ended a 100+ year playoff drought make it likely that if all things were equal he would sign with the Cubs.

Is Jed Hoyer really a good GM? Do we know this?

You don't think Price would be idolized here
if he led Seattle to their first EVER championship? Granted we don’t have the history of the Cubs, but that seems close enough to a wash

Cubs also have a rumored interest in Anthony Rizzo.
Offering as much as Matt Garza. So they’re either going to go get an expensive first baseman or a cheap first baseman and lose a good pitcher (who probably wont be around when Theo’s team is ready anyway).
Fans are typically idiots.

Multiple sources report that "Prince Fielder has not signed yet"
But that he really wants to sign for really real money, more than Mark Teixeira because “I hate that fucking guy”

If it didn't mean wading through hundreds of tweets, I'd love to make some sort of score for reporters' accuracy
Especially since it would quantify how wrong the “Blue Jays won the Darvish posting” stuff was, this past week.
No one ever said that.
Stating the opinion of executives is not the same as stating a fact.
It's almost like everyone everywhere would be better off never even acknowledging them

Probably, yes
It was a couple days of entirely pointless and needless speculation. But nothing they said was inaccurate (that I saw).
God, I can't believe I have to actually listen to Jim Moore and Kevin Calabro
Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Jim Moore is just like Lou Holtz
He always picks his team to win no matter how bad they are, which is the opposite of being an objective reporter/commentator

I have a rational fear of irrational fear
Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
I have an irrational fear of not signing Fielder.

Someday when these writers retire I hope they come out and admit that they made the majority of their tweets up.

Team X, Team Y, and Mystery Team all think great player is good.
Sources close to the organization tell me that player that has had numerous fantastic seasons would be good addition to ballclub, but only if the price is right.
Heard this: Team X may make a play for great player.
Rumors are that Team Y may have discussed signing with player’s agent.
Spoke with team executive for unnamed random team. Says different team may have interest in singing great player if budget allows.

Jack Zduriencik
Has quotes regarding progress on free agent talks but whatever…CAN WE PANIC YET!?
Zduriencik is well aware that the AL West-rival Angels and Rangers have made major splashes this offseason, but indicated that shouldn’t lead the Mariners to panic and veer from their own plan.
“There’s no question that both those clubs have helped themselves and both were really good as it was,” he said. "Now, the Angels get Pujols and [C.J.] Wilson and Texas gets Yu Darvish. But we’re not going to deviate from our course. We’re a little further away than those clubs. We have a plan in place.
“I really like our pitching at the upper Minor League level and on our Major League staff. We’re not going to make any decisions that will hurt our long-term plan. We’re doing what we’re doing, and when it’s the right time, whether now or in the future, we’ll do what needs to be done. We’re not going to change from that.”
Wow, I would be hard pressed to say less with that many words.

It's disappointing. It's a tough job Jack has.
I think his hands are being tied….yet again.
Oh really? Where do you see that?
He only refers to the unrevealed “plan”. All he says is, other people doing other things doesn’t change the “plan”. I should hope not! And also that he thinks the team has talent. If we go all out and sign Fielder, he can say that was the plan. If we don’t, he can say that was the plan. Stop reading things into a quote that is completely pointless.

Fucking Heyman is the key.
I fucking hate you Mariners
He could at least call the next day, if only for closure.

I don't even care about wanting/not wanting him anymore
I just want him to make up his goddamn mind so this thing can be over with.
I wouldn't doubt Fielder can't find someone to shell out $150 million (or whatever number he is looking to get) for him in this market.
Whoever signs him is probably going to get a good price. And the longer he holds out for more money, the more teams will fill their needs and the market will further dwindle.
Shit be getting laborious.
How come you can do all this other great shit, but you can't lie the fuck down and sleep?
I'm still a bit unclear as to whether Prince Fielder has been given an offer.
Or if the Cubs are still interested. Of if Yu Darvish will be any good.
You know what I can't stand? How people think Fielder deserves Pujols money.
I completely understand Boras saying “Well we want a 10/200 kindof deal”. That’s his job, of course he’ll make pujols comparisons. But Fielder isn’t even CLOSE to as good as Pujols. Not anywhere near. But when someone like Morosi writes,
“Fielder is justified asking for the same contract Pujols got, because he’s younger”
Thats fucking crazy talk. Suddenly its gone from 8/160 being Prince’s ceiling that no one would touch, and now its 10/200? Prince is a great player, but holy shit balls he’s not anywhere near as good as Pujols. I think Boras is realizing that this market is just not going to develop.
