Rangers may not pursue Darvish or Fielder
Ken Rosenthal on why the Rangers are not expected to go after Darvish or Fielder according to his sources. Basically it boils down to the fact they don't have the payroll flexibility many expected they would.

So it's down to us and the Cubs then?
Even though the Cubs are in all out rebuilding mode? I mean even we have to look more appealing than the Cubs at this point, right?
Blue Jays too maybe, it's so hard to tell and keep track of. I think the Mariners have been the only team consistently "linked" to him.
Who the fuck knows what’s going to happen, but thank goodness another potential suitor is out, assuming Prince is indeed on Jack Z’s target list.

I mean, we were worse than the Cubs last, have a lower payroll, are in a smaller media market, have a less dedicated fan base
but beyond those things we likely look more appealing.
I don’t put too much credence into anyone being “out.” And also, there could always be mystery suitors which, recent history has taught us, can actually be legitimate sometimes.
MLB.com is doing it as well!
Projected to make $2.6 million next year, according to MLBTradeRumors.com, Volstad, 25, enters his first year of arbitration after going 5-13 with a 4.89 ERA.

I would love it if the Mariners got Volstad.
For the word play alone!
Volstad had a sobering affect on the Rangers offense today.
Volstad prohibited the Angels from getting on base for the first 3 innings.
