Fans and players conducted a minute's applause in honor of Speed.
Sports in America like to give a moment of silence in memory of their sports heroes. However, I like the idea of having a minute of applause. Greg Halman will no doubt be remembered during the first game back in Seattle. It sure would be nice to be able to show our thanks as fans to applause instead of standing in silence. Seems a more powerful way to bring a crowd together and honor someone.

That was actually supposed to be a minute's silence
and after about 40 seconds the applause started and swelled and went crazy. It was a really nice thing to see.
I think the Yankees still do black armbands
but most other teams have gone the patch route.
