A Crazy Idea to Raise a Question
Ok, so our offense is pretty bad. I'm hearing that we've got 15 mil to spend over like 3-5 guys, and it seems like I'm hearing a ton of people saying to spread it over the guys. Buy a 1 WAR 3rd baseman, buy a 1 WAR catcher, buy a 1 WAR 4th starting pitcher, buy a 1 War lf/dh split guy, buy a 1 WAR long reliever. I disagree. I think thats a formula for more failure. I think we need to invest. My crazy idea below is just to show my point that I think we need to get somebody good instead of a bunch of somebodies who arent as much.
There used to be a crazy idea here, but I removed it because the player I suggested purchasing has a club option for next year.
But this post wasn't about my idea anyways. What I wanted to point out was what one good player adds to the line up. If we added a few average level guys instead of one really good guy I dont know if itd look as good as our line-up as it stands with one weak player replaced by one very strong player. What do you think? Do we spend big on a key player? Or has the Figgins contract convinced you not to bank your off season on one guy? See poll below:

Wait, what?
I think it says something about me when the thing that annoyed me the most is “Gutti” from Gutierrez. Or is this a really, really terrible Guti stomach joke. Also the Mariners are not allowed to have good defensive catchers.
I am convinced that Seattle sports teams exist to make me hate Seattle sports teams.
You want more numbers from a person who writes:
I say we give [Molina] a 5 year 48 mil. contract.
1st of all, [Molina] wouldn’t be as expensive [as Figgins]
Fact: Chone Figgins: 4Y/$36M
?
I would say something about the content of the post, but what usually happens is the person who made the fanpost never comes back to comment.

Your comparisons to Chone Figgins are muddled and pointless
Batting .300 is not the only, or even a good, measure of hitting well.
Gold glove award is no the only, or even a good, measure of defensive aptitude.
Isn't this the part where one of the mods comes along and either declares ClubLL or tells us to ignore the bad post?

ClubLL is long a thing of the past.
And ignore the post if all you want to do is mock it. Corrections, or pointing out bad logic is useful criticism and that’s always warranted up to the point where the other party offers compelling evidence that he or she is obstinate in maintaining his or her original position.

Edits
I am sorry for the original poor quality of the fanshot and have made edits to try to make it better, more accurate, and more clear.
I'm not sure changing a five year contract to a four year contract for the same old catcher makes it that much better though
who gives a 29 year old catcher who hits for no power a 4 year contract
I struggle with why this is a good reason for the M’s to give him a four year contract, since you express incredulity that anyone would.
I highly doubt the Cardinals let him go, to begin with

The point of this post was what you are intrested in seeing happen over the offseason
I know the Molina idea and contract arent logical, the point of this fanshot is whether or not you want to see a big purchase or not.
If that's the point why is Molina in the fanshot in the first place
There’s a 1% chance the Cardinals don’t pick up his option. If we’re talking future, let’s talk Ryan Zimmerman.

I just want a player that can OBP ok (like .320) and mash 30+ dingers.

I don't think the idea would be to buy five 1 WAR players or one 5 WAR player.
Because five 1 WAR players wouldn’t cost nearly as much as one 5 WAR player. I mean, I know the idea of a win cost $4 million or whatever it is, but a 1 WAR player is not a very good player. Something that we already have a lot of. I think Jack will spend the money as he sees the market allows, not forcing the money into any one place unless he sees its worth it, or not going into it with a philosophy of “I have to get exactly these kinds of players”
