I've been calm since about the 8th inning last night
I was a wreck after the lost to Randy Wolf and the Brewers
My heart would have given out by now if the Mariners were in it.
It would have probably given out when they made the World Series in the first place.

In our hearts of hearts we all know that if the Mariners ever make the world series they are going to get swept in 4 with the last two being blowouts at home.
Couldn't disagree more.
We’re building our team around pitching, which makes blowouts seem unlikely.
We might not necessarily make it to the World Series with Felix, Hultzen, Paxton, Pineda and Walker

No! It will be won by the M's in game 7 in Safeco on a walkoff grand slam in extras
and the game winning ball will bounce off of a railing of the stairs in center field, then come to rest on the desk of the Niehaus statue.

Does 8 postseason wins as a franchise record for a starter seem odd to anyone else?
Yes, I know, pitcher wins are meaningless. But it’s a low meaningless stat.
I think that's a decent number
Keeping in mind that there weren’t three rounds of playoffs until just a decade ago and you’d have to go deep in the playoffs often to do that over the course of a career

You can make the argument that his presumptuous bat-toss on strike 2 influenced the ump on the next pitch.
Subconsciously, of course.
I don't mean like "Yadi is an asshole, I'm gonna punch him out" (which is what I would have done, ha ha)
The second pitch was a hair further outside, though still a strike. The subconscious thought would have been “Well, if that last one was BARELY a strike, then this one has gotta be a ball.” But I dunno… maybe the ump just plain blew it. Well, either way he blew it, but you get what I mean.
Craig and Freese.
Not the Cardinal heroes I would have guessed for this series.

Let's now recall how stupid it is for the All-Star Game to have any remote thing to do with games that count
What, you mean a Wild Card team having home field advantage over a Division winner?
I don’t see the problem here!
If they can rig it so that every year the team that should have had home field doesn't because their best pitcher blew the ASG I'd be for it.
by drblacknwhite on Oct 28, 2011 7:46 PM PDT up reply actions
If they can rig it that way, then we just get Felix to blow the ASG every year!
by ATM's34 on Oct 28, 2011 7:47 PM PDT up reply actions 1 recs
They would! If it is rigged like drblacknwhite said, then
then since Felix was the one to blow the game, the Mariners would have to be punished by losing homefield advantage in the world series, so the Mariners would have to be placed in the world series by default.
