OTM thinks a Figgins-Lackey trade is a good idea.

This is my first FanPost on LL so I'll make it short and sweet.(or sour considering who we're talking about here)

I'll start by quoting the OTM post on the trade:

Chone Figgins, 3 years/$26M: Figgins was almost Vernon Wells bad last year. He was just ordinary bad the year before. It doesn’t seem reasonable to believe he will ever be the player he was in 2009. However, this deal could be great for the Sox. They would get a player who is a switch hitter with an excellent glove at third base, allowing them to DH Kevin Youkilis part time or full time, trade Youk for pitching or trade Mike Aviles or Jed Lowrie. Figgins would not be hitting in Safeco 81 games a year and that alone would make a big difference for him. His base-running and defense can help the team even if his bat continues to falter.

Lackey has 3 years/$45.75M remaining on his contract so it looks like money and or prospects would be headed the M's way as well. This trade would give us the needed starter plus get rid of Figgins but Lackey was part of the Redsox's beer and fried chicken club house party. Plus i think we all hate him from his Angels days.

Trade one over priced and horrible ex-Angel for another?

Yeah, if anything it's best to make a FanShot out of this rather than a FanPost

But even then it’s generally frowned upon to start a post based on something that is either dreaming or a rumor, especially when there is no authority behind it (ie, Larry Stone saying that he’s hearing of a Lackey/Figgins swap).
