Beltre nearing an agreement with Texas
There are a bunch of potential tweets I could link, so just take my word for it. It makes me sad to see Beltre headed to a division rival, so I will instead focus on how the Angels are completely inept. haha Angels

Maybe this year and next...
But if they’re truly giving Beltre 100 million this could be good. Unless, of course, the Rangers have found a fountain of unlimited money to spend. It’s pretty much twice what we spent on him.
That fountain of money is called their new TV deal
it’s not unlimited, but it’s got a really, really, really, really high limit.

Oh yeah true...
Completely forgot about that. Crap.
Wasted money is still wasted money and the Rangers aren't quite the Yankees.
Not saying that Beltre couldn’t potentially equal his value, he could potentially do great in Texas, but it’s a steep mountain to climb at 100 million. And by pushing Michael Young to DH at 3 years and 48 million left on his deal, doesn’t that also make his value all that much worse?
The Rangers are obviously better now with Beltre at third, but I do agree that it could end up a bad deal for them.

Shouldn't the M's be getting one of those soon as well?
I was under the impression that Texas’ was the new benchmark for TV deals.
Yes, but they'll need that fountain if they want to retain most of their current players
Cruz, Kinsler, Andrus and particularly Hamilton are going to start making boatloads of money in the next few years. Of course, they still have that farm system…

I enjoyed seeing Tweets about 2 hours apart yesterday
“Michael Young tells Rangers he doesn’t want to move off 3B”
2 hours pass
“Michael Young willing to move for Beltre”
Meh, if we're not going to be competitive at least we can watch them load up some monster contracts.
"That's fuckin' ingenious, if I understand it correctly. It's a Swiss fuckin' watch. "
Also, how the hell are the Angels this bad at negotiating.

It is my dream that somehow, Michael Young having to move to DH will cause a fracture in the clubhouse
and they will collapse into a Mariner-like ineptitude
looks like it is 5-80
with a voidable 6 year…
a slight overspend but nothing horrible.

I find it far less painful to see Beltre as a Ranger than as an Angel.
I dunno if anyone else feels that way (actually, I do – the poll on the main page is some pretty solid evidence) , but it just doesn’t have the same sting. I dislike the Rangers as division rivals, but I don’t hate them as insufferable jackwagons the way I hate the Angels.
And hey, Nolan Ryan. Always cool, no matter what the context.
Embrace floorlessness.
