There haven't been many great performances from AL rookies I guess
Austin Jackson? Really? Wade Davis hasn’t been very good either.
Buster Olney was on Sportcenter and advocated for Felix as well.
Morgan Ensberg for Manager 2011!
AL Scout on Rendon: "I would peg him as a poor man's Jose Lopez."
Really? He changed his tune that quickly?
No matter his words on twitter last week (and I may be remembering them incorrectly), I don’t believe he would vote for Cahill over Felix, even if Cahill didn’t recently implode.
Having Stark and Olney stump for Felix is pretty cool.
Whatever one might think of them as “analysts” and ESPN in general, both of them are pretty influential among casual fans (which could mean more casual fans stop looking at wins and losses as a key evaluation method). Also, the fact that a couple of national writers/talking heads for ESPN are advocating for Felix gives me hope that the media voting for this award might actually give him serious consideration despite the lower win total that might cause some voters to dismiss him.
No matter where you go, there you are.
I love how Stark thinks he has a grasp on sabermetric stats.
And then mentions ERA+. I’m sure he’s preventing himself from using stuff like FIP/xFIP lest he lose the common crowd, but it’s still irritating.

I don't read a lot of Stark, so if you do you may be correct and I would submit to you.
However, I don’t get that feeling from reading this article.
But remember, this is a performance award, period. And King Felix leads the league in every meaningful sabermetric pitching stat on Earth except adjusted ERA+ (where Buchholz is No. 1 — and Sabathia ranks ninth).
From reading the first paragraph, it sounds like Stark knows where to go to look up DIPS stats, which means he took a trip to places like Fangraphs, Baseball Prospectus and B-Ref (and maybe Statcorner!) — or he’s at least aware of their existences and doesn’t hate them with an irrational vengence. Re-read the words “every sabermetric pitching stat on earth,” again and tell me he’s limiting himself to ERA+.
Even if you compare more traditional numbers, though, Hernandez has an ERA that’s three-quarters of a run lower than Sabathia’s, an opponent OPS that’s 74 points lower, more innings pitched, a better strikeout rate and a better WHIP.
And in the second paragraph, remember, some BBWAA writers would look at opponent OPS and WHIP and say “those damn SABRheads!”. Stark puts them in the “traditional” category in his mind.
Stark gets a thumbs-up from me. Even if he’s no Voros McCracken.
Hernandez does not lead the league "in every meaningful sabermetric pitching stat on Earth"
He is behind both Francisco Liriano and Cliff Lee in FIP, xFIP, tRA, pRAA and WAR. Stark is misinforming people.
I think he's probably going by the B-R stats
Felix does lead AL pitchers in WAR there. But even still, there are a lot of meaningful sabermetric pitching stats he doesn’t lead in (such as all there other ones you listed). I just took it as hyperbole.
I can't believe he picked Buchholz for AL runner up
